Our Biggest Project Ever

For the last year or so MoTiS has been working on what is probably its biggest “project” to date, and also (in a way) its last.

MoTiS is merging with the firm of Knothe & Bruce. We won’t be gone, but we will be different. For the past six years Matt and Jake, along with Tyler, have worked to create a portfolio of beautiful and well-designed projects that bring our clients’ vision to reality. An essential part of that process has always been the care we take to make a positive contribution to the neighborhood it’s in, and by extension to the city at large. We see this merger as an opportunity to expand that design influence beyond anything MoTiS could have done on its own. And we couldn’t be happier with our newly-expanding architectural team.

Knothe & Bruce Architects (KBA) has been a leader in the field of multifamily housing for quite some time. Their long history in the greater Madison area has led to a remarkable growth in their firm, a growth based on strong relationships with a number of long term clients.

Anybody who lives in Madison knows that one of the biggest issues facing the city right now is our growth…and the lack of adequate housing to keep up with it. Becoming part of that process will give us the chance to pitch in on catching up with the housing demand and to be a contributor in continuing to elevate the standards of design everyone in town is so eager to see.

Joining forces with a firm known for its focus on multifamily projects doesn’t mean we’re abandoning our other work. Part of the merger objective is to bring a diversity of project types with us.  We will still be working on the restaurant projects people have come to know us for, as well as offices, retail spaces and the occasional house. All of these are different pieces to the same overall puzzle – of putting together a legacy of projects that moves Madison forward and gives everyone something to be proud of.

In 2023, as our firms integrate more completely, we’ll create a space on our new website to share some peeks “behind-the-curtains” in the process of creating these buildings. In the meantime our website will live on as a place for people to see the work we’ve been a part of during this phase, and also as a place where we can still share our thoughts on the “how” and the “why” of the projects. We also look forward to sharing more of our projects and process with everyone via some new avenues on social media.

It's the end of MoTiS as it was, but we feel like it’s also the beginning of a new phase – MoTiS isn’t gone, it’s evolved. We hope all of our friends and followers are as excited as we are about the possibilities to come.
